“Choose the school that loves you.”

–Coach Alexis Pace

On Saturday, October 7th, student-athletes from the community and Basketball Brotherhood members participated in the first annual College Bound Seminar Panel Discussion. It was an informative showdown! Students had an opportunity to hear first-hand accounts about college from the perspective of young, successful college graduates.

The event was held at the Carroll County Parks and Recreation Center. The esteemed panel featured: Coach Alexis Pace, Anelia Murray, Alexis Avery, Tim City, Shiloh Patrick, and Adrian Coleman. Each panelist provided a unique perspective on various topics developed by Brooke Lane, who organized and moderated the event. The panelists were inspiring and transparent.

Many of the student-athletes left motivated and inspired by the words of the panelists. Jade commented that “the panelists’ personal stories about college inspired her to want to attend college more than ever before” LB Benefield remarked, “the room was inviting and full of humor”. Zach added that “After listening to the panelists, he understands the importance of networking and setting realistic goals with promising outcomes.” The students who participated in this seminar feel a new sense of direction regarding their exploration of college.  Students were motivated to do more than just get the job done; With the motivation from successful college graduates, an opportunity to interact and ask questions with those who have been in their position coupled with a degree of transparency provided by the panelist—created an atmosphere that captivated all those involved. It was truly a day to remember and a successful seminar.
